In Colorado!

I'd said I would mention more about our trip to California in a later post, so I guess now is as good a time as any. We are on our way to Weimar, California, to the Amazing Facts Center of Evangelism. Tim is taking their four-month program and Ethan and I are going along. We will be living on campus there. It has been a long road to this point, but God has led every step. We are being called to ministry, although we haven't been instructed with much more detail than that. AFCOE will be a huge help in equipping Tim and hopefully I will pick up some things as well.

Anyway, we left Thursday night about 10 pm CST and drove through the night and continued on through the day on Friday so we could arrive in Colorado well before Sabbath. We did make a stop to see a Pony Express Station in Gothenburg, Nebraska, though and really enjoyed it. Finally it felt like a vacation! Once we get to California I may post some pictures and have more details on that. In the same town, we also stopped at the Sod House Museum and got to see an example of a sod house that a man built 23 years ago in order to show his children how people had lived in the 1800's in that area. There were no trees, so they had to use what was available, which was earth.

We drove up to Glenn and Lisa Poole's house at about 5:30 pm Mountain Time on Friday and were sooooo glad to see them!!! Many hugs were exchanged and we were excited to spend time with them again. We hadn't seen them in about five years, so it truly was a joyful reunion. I was surprised that Johanna, their daughter, remembered me. Isaac didn't remember us, of course, being younger last time we saw each other, but he and Ethan have made fast friends. They've been riding their bikes around the Poole's property and running and playing and talking. I've just been so enjoying our time here that it will be hard to leave. Colorado is so beautiful and the weather is phenomenal. It has been fairly warm during the day (80's) for the last couple of days, but Lisa says they only have a few days like this a year. There's been a nice breeze and it starts to cool off more in the evening and it's super comfortable by bedtime, so much so that most of the windows are closed around nightfall or a little after.

We had planned on going up Pike's Peak today, but there's a car race on the mountain today, so it looks like we'll be going to the county fair instead. I'm excited to see the draft horse pull and some other things. The kids will have fun no matter what we do and Tim and I will be happy as long as we get to spend time with Glenn and Lisa. They're such good friends.

Well, it's almost breakfast time, so I should go, but I wanted to give an update on where we are and why. More to come later...
